The education system in the Central African Republic designed according to French system of education. As the Central African Republic is a growing nation, the existing system is not appropriate to enhance education and literacy rate. In many schools the language of teaching is French but the Central African government has sought to promote Sango literacy and encourages its use in schools.

Education is compulsory for all children from age 6 to 14. Enrolment in primary schools is 75%, only half of the population is literate.
